Pi-top model 2 - Missing parts - Please help!

My son received a green pi-top (model 2) in a raffle at a festival hosted by one of the public schools in NYC. He was so so excited, but when we tried to assemble the laptop we noticed a piece is not included:

“Step 5: Now remove the Micro SD card from the SD card adapter as shown.

il. Insert the micro SD card into your Raspberry Pi as shown with the correct orientation. It should easily slide in.”

We are stuck here, we don’t see the parts.

What can we do to get the part? Thank you!

(I emailed the company but no reply)

Welcome to the pi-top community! That’s a neat prize for your son.
Do you mean you don’t have the (micro)SD card? If that’s what is missing, then thankfully it’s easily replaced:
you could get a suitable microSD card,
download pi-topOS
and flash it to your microSD card,
then insert it in the RaspberryPi microSD port and continue following the instructions from there

For a couple of pointers towards decent microSD cards:

Note: it’s quite likely that RaspberryPi’s own microSD cards are in fact rebadged Amazon Basics cards

Thank you for replying. We don’t have the Raspberry pie.

Oh! Sorry, I thought you were indicating the part highlighted in green (the microSD card, which originally came in a full sized SD card adapter).

I doubt that you would be able to get pi-top to provide you with a Raspberry Pi for something that was won as a prize at a raffle (that, presumably, pi-top as an organisation had nothing to do with?)…but thankfully it’s still fairly simple for you to obtain a replacement.

If you want to use the same SBC for which the pi-top v2 / pi-top [3] was designed, then you could buy a Raspberry Pi 3B+.

However, if you want something with a bit more power, then have a look at the pi-top [3] threads in this forum with “(possible) Upgrade” in the title.
