Is it bad if i leave the Battery plugged in over a longer amount of time ?

I also want to know is there any way to turn off (or postpone) charging of battery when charge is around 80% when using the pi-top always connected to power (as a server), to hopefully reduce battery degradation with time?
Hope to hear from anyone about this.
