New pi4, having issues with software installations

I tried doing ‘sudo apt-get update’ and get dependency errors on autorandr
This happens with the regular system updates.

I also tried installing node.js, getting an error with node-contextify.

I have two other raspberry pi, no issues with them. This is my only pi-top.

Please advise. Can I just installing a clean OS and then add the pi-top tools?

hey @gospina !

Are you running pi-topOS/Raspberry Pi OS/other?
Can you paste here the messages you’re getting when trying to upgrade, to see if we can help?

I purchased a pi-top 4 directly from a vendor.
uname: Linux pi-top 4.19.75-v7l+ #1270 SMP Tue Sep 24 18:51:41 BST 2019 armv7l GNU/Linux
here is what I get when I do the updates:
Reading package lists… Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information… Done
Calculating upgrade… Done

Hi - it seems that you are running a very old version of the OS! We make every effort to support user upgrade paths, but sometimes problems like this occur.

Your immediate fix would be to download the OS from our website: https://www.pi-top.com/products/os

I will look into this issue when I get some time - sorry for the inconvenience!

That fixed it. All good.
Thank you
