Pi-top [3] (Possible?) Allwinner A733 Upgrade

Anyone going to try out the interesting looking OrangePi 4 Pro ? You can view the mainline kernel support status here*
*Allwinner doesn’t enjoy a great reputation in the open source space and, so far, there’s only one topic mention for the A733 on that page - the start of work by Andre Przywara on mainline support for pinctrl after Allwinner changed their MMIO register frame layout with the A733.

Allwinner is also set to release the A838 SOC at the end of this year.

N.B. The OrangePi 4 Pro is 4mm longer than the RPi3B+ so it may or may not fit in a pi-top [3]…

Update to this according to linuxgizmos.com :

(Update 12/29/2025): Orange Pi announced that the Orange Pi 4 Pro now supports either an eMMC or UFS storage module, along with finalized LPDDR5 memory configurations.

The 4 GB model operates at up to 2400 MHz, while the 6 GB, 8 GB, and 12 GB variants run at up to 2040 MHz, with further optimization planned. According to the company, these updates were introduced without an increase in base pricing.

The Orange Pi 4 Pro is now available through official Orange Pi channels and third-party retailers such as Amazon and AliExpress, with pricing starting around $48–$49 for the 4 GB LPDDR5 model and scaling to about $71 for the 12 GB version, depending on configuration and retailer.
